Dave waits in the recreation room for someone to come in, so as to create an alibi; the recreation room is chosen as it's very close to the airlock room. At 9:15, Adrien joins him.
At approximately 9:20, Dave (hereafter "Dave Present") uses his considerable speed to leave the room, escaping Adrien's notice. Seconds after, a second (Dave Future) takes his place in the room.
Dave Present bolts down the hall to the airlock. He enters the airlock, removes Elizabeth from his inventory, and presses the button. Immediately, Dave Present is trapped in the airlock, the door to the ship shut and the door to space open.
However, Dave Present takes the opportunity to go back in time five seconds, before he pressed the button. Now, the airlock door is open. He bolts back to the recreation room. He is now Dave Future, the Dave who went back in time. He takes the place of Dave Present, who is still with Adrien in the recreation room. That Dave now exits the recreation room, completing the loop.
